North of Pokhara, the Annapurna massif rises above Gurung and Magar villages, rhododendron forest and river gorges. Routes range from a few days to Poon Hill to longer journeys into the Annapurna Sanctuary.

The Annapurna Conservation Area is Nepal's largest protected area. Trekkers need an entry permit.
