Langtang

A high valley north of Kathmandu, reached by road in a day, with villages and monasteries along the way.

A small stone shelter hung with cloth stands on a rocky valley floor near a horse, with snowy Langtang peaks behind.

The Langtang valley climbs from forest to open yak pastures below glaciers, ending at Kyanjin Gompa. Tamang culture shapes the villages along the route.

Langtang National Park requires an entry permit. Because the trailhead at Syabrubesi is reached by road, the valley suits travellers with less time.
